NEW MILFORD — Dairy Queen may open its 40th location in Connecticut on Danbury Road.

Joseph Naples III, owner of 161 Danbury Road LLC, submitted a site plan modification application to modify his already approved plans for a proposed restaurant with a drive-thru on 161 Danbury Road.

The property owner originally planned to open a Popeyes restaurant at the location, but the new application is for a Dairy Queen, said Paul S. Szymanski, president of Arthur H. Howland & Associates, at the Zoning Commission’s on Tuesday meeting. The site is bordered by a Dunkin’ Donuts at 163 Danbury Road and a residence.

The Zoning Commission approved the prior special permit and site plan application for 161 Danbury Road in October 2021. In addition to constructing a one-story restaurant with a drive-thru, the prior proposal called for the existing structures on 159 and 161 Danbury Road to be removed and the lots merged.
